Kurtz, Amy

Principal
I am here to listen, help you learn, and guide you in God's love.  I love getting to serve students, staff, families, and our community as principal. It is an enormous blessing to be able to form relationships with so many different groups of people and grow alongside them.
God's love permeates everything we get to do.  I think it is so important to pray with students, staff, and families to ask for God's guidance.
I love learning! I have been shaped by so many wonderful teachers and leaders throughout my life. I was blessed to have attended a Lutheran elementary school K-8th grade and earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Masters degree in Administration from Concordia University-Nebraska. Throughout my education experiences the educators, pastors, and administrators who took the time to truly show an interest in my life, educationally and emotionally, have had the greatest impact on me. Leaders and teachers who listen and pray for you are incredibly powerful and for that I am extremely thankful.

Jones, Glenn

Business Manager
My faith impacts everything in my life. I view my role as Business Manager as service to our Lord more than I view it as a job.
My role as a Supply Officer for a Marine helicopter squadron and my management of a production center for computer output have exposed me to an understanding of the many moving parts that make an organization work. Owning my own business (The UPS Store) exposed me to the "joy" of managing resources and making payroll.

Schaag, Janice

Office Manager
While I don't teach, I love getting to work with the students and their families, supporting them in a variety of areas. It's great when students stop by the office just to say, "hi!" to me, knowing that I'm here and, should they ever need anything, that they're free and happy to come to me, whether it be a listening ear or just a piece of candy!
I love sharing my love for our Lord and His Word with students, families, and whoever comes into the school. In particular I love sharing Bible verses to help in times of need.
My background in IT and previous experience in the corporate world prepared me for the organizational aspects of my ministry, while my clutzy siblings, basic interest in medicine, and lots of First Aid training with Scouts prepared me to help with the bumps, scrapes, and other "boo-boos" we regularly treat in the office. I am also a trained Stephen Minister and use my listening skills quite often with students, families, and others who come to the church and school for help; often just being "heard" is the best medicine for people, along with the reminder of our Lord's loving goodness.

Middle School & Assistant Principal
Middle schoolers bring a unique personality and perspective to everything we learn and do. I enjoy engaging in conversation with them as they strive to figure out themselves and the world around them. I also appreciate the opportunity to teach students over the course of multiple years. My Christian beliefs affect all aspects of my teaching. They provide a foundation for everything I do. As a Lutheran educator, I see students as more than learners. I see them as children of God who were given a variety of gifts and talents. In the classroom, faith conversations are integrated across subject areas and topics of study.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with Middle Grade Endorsements in Math, Social Science, and Language Arts and a minor in Theology from Concordia University Chicago. I am currently part of the School Leadership Development Program (SLED) through the LCMS. My certifications and experience across multiple grade levels and subject areas inform my educational practices.

I love watching the development for each child throughout the year! They change so much socially and academically.

God has placed me in an environment that allows me to learn and grow along with the children! I have been able to dive deeper into God's word since teaching.

I have been able to use the knowledge I have from my Masters in Elementary Education as well as my background of working with kids with Autism. My background has helped me approach each child in a way to cater to their specific needs.

ECE-2B
I currently teach multiple age groups. I enjoy teaching the 2's and 3's because for a lot of them, I am the first teacher that they will have. When you teach this age group, you are setting the foundation for their school experience. They are learning so much at this age and their brains are like little sponges. Watching their eyes light up when they see or do something new and exciting is one of the sweetest things you will ever see. I enjoy teaching elementary and middle school Art because I get to use my passion for education purposes. I have always loved to draw and create, and getting to teach that to others is such a great experience for me.Teaching both age groups is very rewarding.
My Christian faith impacts my classroom in many ways. Sharing the love of Jesus with a young child is so special. Being one of the first people in their little lives to teach them about God's love is a big deal. We pray before meals, talk about Jesus during Jesus Time, sing our favorite chapel songs, and talk about how God wants us to love everyone and be kind.
I graduated college with a Bachelor's Degree. I did not originally go to school for Education. I had other plans, but somehow always ended up working with children. I came to Faith in 2011 to enroll my own child and ended up applying for an Assistant position at that time. That was when my love for this job really started. I was offered a lead position the following year, and every year since then has been a wonderful learning experience. I think that one of the most rewarding things about being a teacher is not only getting to expand young minds, but to also constantly be learning from each set of children that you have. I have taken online training classes as well in order to make sure I am giving the best care possible to my students.

I love that three-year-olds are excited to come to school. I get to witness so many "firsts", they are constantly exploring and discovering new skills. We get to be silly together and every day I am surrounded by the joyful sounds of love and laughter and I get to share my love for Jesus every day.

I love watching the toddlers take in all that they are learning. Everything is new to them, and it’s fun to see.
Our youngest learners may not fully understand the significance of Christian values, however, we do not need to wait until they fully understand .As teachers we are setting the stage for the child’s future and helping them to develop those faith-based habits to prepare them for when they reach an age where they can begin to reflect on and understand the different aspects of faith.

Ditzler, Lisa

ECE-4A and Spanish
I have the privilege of teaching many grade levels. I teach PreK and I also teach Spanish to K-8th grades. I love watching the kids learn new things, seeing light bulb moments, and watching them grow.
In the PreK classroom we learn about Jesus during our Bible lesson time. The children have opportunities to pray for others and before each snack and lunch time. In the Spanish classes, we take a look at other cultures and how they worship which in turn causes our students to have a greater appreciation for their relationship with God.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development and I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education. A lot of the coursework in my studies helped prepare me for teaching the academic subjects in the classroom setting. I have learned different behavioral management strategies by being in the classroom setting and observing what each child's individual needs are. The small class sizes we provide at Faith help me as a teacher to be able to provide for my students' needs directly.

As an ECE assistant, I help in various classes depending on the need. I enjoy getting to know so many children from the different age groups.
Every child is an eternal soul. It's my job to help shepherd them in the ways of Jesus, while remembering that I am also a sinner who needs a Savior. They are always watching and listening; I hope they see a Jesus follower.
I graduated college with a degree in English, thinking I wanted to be an editor. Growing up with parents who were teachers, and later a sister who became a teacher, I said I would never be one! So much hard work even outside of the 8-3 school day! So God laughed, allowed me several years of working with adults, and now has me in a much-more-fun job that I LOVE.

I love teaching Kindergarten because I am able to help each child build a strong educational, emotional, and spiritual foundation. I am lucky enough to see them blossom throughout the year!
I am able to focus on and develop the whole child. We are able to bring out faith into everything we do. Through our faith, we are able to show kindness, respect, understanding of each other, and conflict resolution. We love starting our day with our daily devotions.
I gained the knowledge, skills, and experience I needed to become the best classroom teacher I could be. While working as a teacher, I continuously gain additional skills in communicating with parents and helping students with problem solving and achieving their goals.

Gaines, Jessica

1st Grade Teacher
I love watching the "ah-ha" moments in first grade. There is so much growth that happens in first grade, and I enjoy being able to create personal relationships and a classroom family that I get to teach everyday.
I grew up as a child who was active in my Christian faith. The students are very interested in learning more about God and I love being able to teach them what I grew up learning to help foster and grow their relationship with God.
As a preschool teacher for six years, I am very passionate about the social and emotional development of children. In first grade, students get to learn about their emotions and express them in healthy ways. It is important for students to be able to identify their emotions and behaviors and build relationships with their peers.
×

Koch, Jill

2nd Grade Teacher
I enjoy teaching second grade and helping children grow in social-emotional learning.
Jesus taught us to love and serve and handle things peacefully. In our classroom we work to make our actions and words reflect these lessons learned from Jesus.
My prior educational learning has equipped me to be able to think on my feet and put into practice strategies learned.

Rush, Angie

Grade 3 & Art Teacher
I love teaching the pre-k age because of their joy and excitement about life and learning new things! We get to grow and learn together. I get to learn about what brings them joy and help them through what makes them upset.
My faith is integrated into everything that we do in the classroom. We pray, we praise God with singing, we learn Bible lessons together, we forgive each other, and we try to live as Jesus would want us to live.
I graduated from Concordia University Ann Arbor with a Lutheran Teaching Degree. I went into teaching after graduation utilizing all the skills and training I received. After teaching for 10 years, I went back to school and received my Master's degree in Reading Instruction from the University of West Georgia.

I love seeing students continue to mature and grow in their academics and their faith. I love that we get to dive deeper into content and explore so many new things. It is wonderful to see students abilities in all areas improve. As I always say, I just love all the things we get to learn!
My faith impacts all aspects of my classroom. We start and end each day with prayer and keep Jesus at the center of all that we do. I am blessed to be forgiven and saved, and we keep forgiveness as a major part of our interactions with each other.
I graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin where I got a foundation for teaching. I went back to school and got a Masters in Science Education. All of this education has helped me to have a foundation for supporting my students.

Greinke, Ann

Grades 5 & 6
I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach several grade levels during the years I have been a teacher. These have included 2nd through 8th grade students. I have enjoyed them all. I have been teaching middle school students the longest. I appreciate the maturity these students bring to the discussions we have had in religion and science. I especially love their thoughts on religion at the middle school level. They have wonderful reflections on how God is influencing their lives and the plans he has for them. I tell people I love what I do because I get to talk about Jesus all day.
My belief in Jesus is why I do what I do. He wants us to go and share Him with the whole world. What better way can I do that by having a profession where it allows me to tell others about Him! I feel blessed that God has called me into His work where I am able to tell others about what He has done for me and what He can do for them.
I have had the opportunity to attend Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. While there I received training to not only become a Lutheran school teacher, but also, to work with middle school and high school youth groups. After I graduated from there, I have received teaching positions in Lutheran schools in Eustis, Bradenton, and Clearwater, FL. From there I have continued to teach in Lutheran schools in Marietta, GA and San Francisco, CA. At each of these schools, I have not only taught in classrooms, but been allowed to work with middle school and high school young people of their congregations. Because my positions have been rather diverse, I have had the privilege to experience learning about young people from several different facets of their lives. It has been an awesome calling in life!

Wareham, Jon

Grades 7 & 8
Middle School students are eager to ‘know’ eager to learn. Their unique view of life needs to be listened to and addressed with sound Christ-centered teaching.
Jesus is the center of my classroom. His love, His words, and His Spirit are shared in all the concepts taught. Jesus “is The Word made flesh dwelling with us”. Language arts is using ‘words’ to communicate. We learn, practice, and communicate using human words to communicate the love of God given in “The Word made flesh”…Jesus.
Concordia University, Chicago and the University of South Florida, Tampa equipped me a sound foundation of educational practices.

Shea, Jessica

P.E./ AD/ Chapel Chaplain/ MS Technology
I love to watch my students grow and develop at every stage.
During Physical Education, I enjoy talking with the students about how God has created their bodies, and each are given special gifts or talent. During Technology class, I provide discussion for the students about what is means to be in a Digital Community and as Christians, how our actions our reflected in the community.
I started teaching in 2010. Over this time I have held a variety of roles and teaching potions. This is the second school that I have taught at and I believe that God is allowing me to take all the I have learned and truly apply it here at Faith.

Music

I enjoy helping ECE - 8th-grade students with music, as it brings me joy equipping them.

Music was created by God and we are to share the Gospel in every way possible.
Music is a great way to build community, strengthen/reinforce our faith in Christ.
I share my faith/testimony through songs, scripture verses (like Psalms), and other examples like music videos where students can learn music vocabulary, theory, songwriting, singing songs, and playing instruments.

My educational background is in Media Arts (having worked in the television and film industry).  I grew up with three older brothers (all musicians; two have performed with Grammy winners and I have performed with several myself).  God has prepared and equipped me for this ministry every step of the way.  He has helped me to gain knowledge of music at a young age (choir, chorus, learning multiple instruments, theory, composition, sight reading. ear training in church and school), partnering with others in songwriting (including workshops & performing with top songwriters in multiple genres), performance, being a praise band member (multiple churches), being a worship leader (multiple churches).  I understand the importance of using these skills, gifts and blessings to equip the saints for God's glory.
