QUALIFICATIONS OF TEACHERS
Our teachers are qualified, competent Christian teachers who have expressed their love and concern for children. They have demonstrated their teaching effectiveness. All teachers ECE1-8th grade have earned college degrees. Many have advanced degrees.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
Our faculty members use a variety of teaching methods and styles. They recognize that individuals have different learning styles. The most effective instruction and learning methods are selected, while taking into consideration the subjects and individuals being taught.
CURRICULUM MATERIALS
The learning materials used in our religion classes are published by our Lutheran publishing house and the Christian faith is integrated into all subject areas by the classroom teachers. Our accrediting commission reviews the scope and sequence of the courses of study. Textbooks and instructional materials are selected on the basis of how well they serve the curriculum and meet the required goals and academic competencies as set by our faculty and School Ministry Board (SMB). The textbooks (curriculum) are reviewed by the staff and SMB on a rotating basis.
EVALUATION MATERIALS
The academic progress of students is monitored in many ways. Teachers use daily assignments, portfolios, tests, and other classroom activities to assess students’ progress. These are used to determine grades placed on quarterly report cards. The purpose of this evaluation is to help students experience success, not to provide negative feedback.
Standardized tests are administered to students in grades one through eight. These achievement test scores are used to help determine our students’ progress, as well as to aid us in evaluating our curriculum.
